Feel the Fear, Film Anyway: How to Overcome the Fear of Being on Camera
Let’s be real: filming yourself can feel really weird . Whether it’s hearing your own voice, watching your facial expressions, or worrying what others might think—it’s enough to make you avoid the camera altogether. But in today’s world, showing your face is one of the most powerful tools you have for building trust and connection. Here’s how to quiet the self-doubt, hit record, and actually enjoy the process. Start Small and Private You don’t have to go live on day one. Start by recording short videos just for yourself. Talk about your day, share an idea, or practice your intro. No pressure. No audience. Just practice. You’ll feel more natural with every take. Tip:  Use your phone’s front camera and save videos in a private album to track your progress. Focus on Your Message, Not Your Appearance People care more about what you say than how you look. Most of us are our own worst critics. Instead of obsessing over your hair or how your voice sounds, remind yourself why you’re filming. What value are you bringing to someone watching? Create a Safe Setup Feeling comfortable in your space = more confidence. Find a quiet, well-lit spot where you feel relaxed. Set your camera at eye level. Wear something you feel good in. Create an environment that helps you feel in control. Bonus:  Write a loose script or bullet points to stay on track. Embrace Imperfection Stumbles, pauses, and awkward moments are totally fine. Spoiler: even the most confident creators mess up. The goal isn’t a perfect take—it’s showing up. The more real you are, the more people will relate to you. Reminder: Confidence doesn’t come before action—it comes from it. Reframe the Fear Instead of “I’m scared to be seen,” try “Someone needs to hear this.” Fear is a sign you care. Channel that energy into intention. Think of one person who could benefit from what you’re about to say. Speak to them. That’s enough. Getting on camera is a skill—not a personality trait. And like any skill, it gets easier with time and practice. You don’t have to be the most outgoing, confident person to show up—you just have to be willing to try. How to Create Content That Actually Connects
Content is everywhere—but only a small percentage actually sticks. If you’re tired of creating posts that get ignored, you’re not alone. The key? Content that’s relevant, relatable, and built with purpose. Here’s how to create content that people don’t just scroll past—but save, share, and act on. Know Who You’re Talking To You can’t speak to everyone—and you shouldn’t.   Start by defining your ideal audience. What are their struggles, goals, and habits? What type of content do they already engage with? The more specific you get, the easier it is to create content that feels personal. Tip:  Create a simple persona with their name, job, interests, and pain points. Focus on Value Over Virality Trends come and go, but helpful content lasts. Instead of chasing likes, think about how your content helps your audience. Are you educating, inspiring, entertaining, or solving a problem? Valuable content builds trust—and trust builds loyalty. Try this:  Before you post, ask: “What will someone take away from this?” Plan With Purpose Consistency beats perfection.Random posting leads to burnout and confusion. A content plan keeps you focused, organized, and aligned with your goals. It doesn’t need to be fancy—just a simple outline of what you’re posting, where, and why. Tool tip:  Use a monthly content calendar to keep ideas flowing. Mix Up Your Formats Different people consume content differently. Try switching between carousels, reels, static posts, stories, blogs, newsletters, and even audio. It keeps your content fresh and helps you reach people in different ways. Content idea:  Turn one blog post into a carousel, a reel, and an email. Be Real, Not Just Perfect Connection happens when you’re human. Share behind-the-scenes, wins and  struggles, opinions, or lessons you’ve learned. Showing up authentically doesn’t mean oversharing—it means being relatable and trustworthy. Reminder:  People connect with people, not just brands. Content creation doesn’t have to be overwhelming. With the right mindset, a clear plan, and a genuine voice, you can create content that drives results—and feels good to make. Ready to take your content to the next level? 5 Email Marketing Mistakes That Are Costing You Clicks
Email marketing is more than sending out weekly updates—it’s about creating value, building trust, and encouraging action. But even seasoned marketers fall into traps that sabotage performance. Let’s dive into the five most common mistakes holding back your emails—and what you can do to fix them. 1. Writing Weak Subject Lines The mistake:  Your subject line is too vague, generic, or long. Why it matters:  It’s the first thing your audience sees—and it determines if they even open the email. Fix it:  Use curiosity, urgency, or value-driven messaging. Keep it under 50 characters. Test A/B subject lines regularly. Example:  Instead of “Our April Newsletter,” try “3 Ways to Grow Faster This Month” 2. Sending Without a Clear Goal The mistake:  You send emails just to stay “consistent,” without a defined call-to-action. Why it matters:  Unfocused emails confuse readers and lead to low click-throughs. Fix it:  Before writing, ask: “What do I want my reader to do?” Then build the content around that. Tip:  Focus on one primary CTA per email to keep it actionable. 3. Overloading with Information The mistake:  You cram too much content into a single email. Why it matters:  People scan, not read. Overloading leads to overwhelm and inaction. Fix it:  Keep copy short and scannable. Use spacing, bullet points, and bold text to guide the eye. Quick rule:  One email = one big idea. 4. Ignoring Mobile Optimization The mistake:  Your email looks great on desktop… but not on a phone. Why it matters:  Over 60% of users check emails on mobile. If it’s hard to read or click, they’ll bounce. Fix it:  Use responsive templates, larger fonts, and buttons that are thumb-friendly. Bonus tip:  Send a test email to yourself and preview on both devices before sending. 5. Not Segmenting Your Audience The mistake:  You send the same email to everyone on your list. Why it matters:  Relevance drives engagement. Generic content gets ignored or unsubscribed. Fix it:  Segment by behavior, interests, or purchase history to tailor messages that actually resonate. Try this:  Create a separate welcome sequence for new subscribers vs. long-time readers. Email marketing works—when it's done with strategy and clarity. Avoiding these 5 common mistakes can instantly improve your open and click-through rates, and get your audience to take meaningful action. Want help creating better-performing emails?
